Poland - Polish Zlotych

Expert: Graham Read - 8/3/2009

Question
Dear Graham,

I have a Polish Zlotych worth PLN 10000 which is issued in 1988 and would like to know if it is possible to get this exchanged either in Poland or any other bank in the world, particularly India as this is where I reside. I would also like to know the exchange rate if it is possible to get this exchanged.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Best regards
Dominic Francis

Answer
Hi Dominic,
My first response is 'on which planet do you reside', but that wouldn't be too fair.
Poland went through a period of hyper inflation in the 90's and the currency was revalued, your 10000 note was revalued to 1 PLN, currently worth 0.25Euros.
The PLN (new zloty) has been around since 1995 and you'll be lucky to find anywhere in India, or the rest of the world which would change this up. Try selling it.
Graham
