Question I am fifty years old and I am curious what the correct pronunciation of my own
name is. I am completely estranged from my father's side of the family, the Polish side, and would like to know after all this time how my name – Gierowski
– is spoken. Thank you for any help in this.
Answer Hi Gregory,
ir's very simple
its's [gye-ROF-ski] OR [gye-ROS-ki]
g as in good
ye as in yet
rof as in profession
ski as the word ski
alternatively:
ros as in cross
ki as the word key
the stressed syllable is the MIDDLE one
the second prononciation, although less precise, is very common and considered also correct
