Question
We have a pond roughly 1/4 acre in size.  I planted two different water lilies at the mouth of the pond last spring. The leaves came up and floated all summer but they didn't bloom.  The leaves are coming up now and they are deep red.  Will they turn green and how do I fertilize them?

Answer
Hi Debra,

What do you mean by "the mouth of the pond" ?

If your pond is fed by any running water, I should remind you that water lilies would do best in still water.
They also need at least 3 feet of water to flower.

They usually do not need any fertilizing.
Red leaves are normal, they will turn green in time.

Good luck

Carlo
