Pond & Water Gardening - green water, just after cleaning pond

Expert: Eric Mathes - 5/10/2009

Question
we had terrible green water over the past year. But fish due well. But we can't see them, so we went for the full blown clean out the pond. It is only a 100 gallon container pond.  Looked great, could watch fish swim around , 5 koi, 1 goldfish, all about 8-10 inches. with large filter and pump within 3 days it turned green. we added no more algae, but that hasn't worked to clear the green water. pond is sometimes shaded and part sun.Can you help us get to see our fish again.  The green water did look good at Christmas(lol).

Answer
Hey Sheilla my pond is green also it helps the fish not to be eaten by critters. The sun causes the water to turn green and it is hard to keep it clean. Plants help but you my need a better filter system that filters a larger volume of water or better medium in the filter. Thanks Eric
