Pond & Water Gardening - worms

Expert: Eric Mathes - 6/2/2009

Question
Hi there, I keep getting worms (up to 3 to 4inches long)in my pond filter, hundreds to be exact. Pond is roughly 5200 gallons. I regularly clean the filter getting rid of hundreds of them. These worms are not the average bloodworm as they are so big, and as a fisherman as well, I know a xllodworm when I see 1. Any ideas

Answer
Hey Steve I would almost have to see them. I get a lot of questions from the UK about worms in your ponds. I have no idea how they would get in there past the liner. I would imagine a hard rain might do it, but hundreds. I also have a 5000 gallon pond and have never seen worm one. Wish I knew more about worms. You need to find out what type of worm and go from there. Thanks Eric
