Pond & Water Gardening - Koi Fish and Gold Fish

Expert: Brigitte - 9/7/2009

Question
I just recently bought 4 baby goldfish and 2 Koi fish. I really want them to start breeding. What do I do?

Answer
Hello Alice!
There is really nothing you need to do. They will breed on their own as long as you have males and females in the pond. Just make sure the water is healthy (test the pH, Ammonia and Nitrites regularly). Koi will not breed until they are mature (about 3 years old), Goldfish breed much sooner than that.
