Question
today i was driving and i heard a whining from the back of my car. when i punch the gas the engine loses power and slows down instead of speeding up. upon further investigation, when i turn the key to the on position, you can hear the fuel pump charge, but it sounds horrible. so i went and changed the fuel filter to see if it would help. nope. still doing the same thing. is there something i can do to check the fuel pump other than replacing it? can i clear it up by putting something in the gas? It's in the gas tank so it's going to be a pain in the ass to fix. is there an easy way to do it? please help.

Answer
Hey Travis:

No ther is not much you can do If it's making noise it's pretty much time to replace it. The damage is already done. somewhere along the line the fuel filter was plugged up ans stressed the pump to the point that it' making noise and more then likley slowing downand or the impeller in the pump is broken and not able to deliver the correct amount of fuel the engine needs to run at higher speeds. The faster the engine runs the more volume it needs and I'm sure the pump is lacking volume. Only use a AC Delco pump NOTHING else also get a new fuel strainer as well also know and a "sock".
Good luck :0
