Pontiac Repair - TURN SIGNAL

Expert: Todd Puccio - 11/1/2009

Question
Hello. I have a 2004 Pontiac Montana that is driving me nuts. My front passenger turn signal is not working. I noticed when I used the signal, the arrow on the dash would blink fast, indicating a blown bulb. We bought a new bulb, but it is doing the same thing, which is sometimes it will work, then it will go out again. For the most part it does not work. Usually 1st thing in the morning, the signal will work, then it's out the rest of the day. Does this sound like a fuse or maybe a wiring issue? I do not want to take it to the dealer and gets charged an arm and leg just to be told "oh this wire was loose, etc." Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if this has any thing to do with my problem, but the light on my dash diaplay..right side only (where the speed, rpm's are located) is out and all the lights on my factory radio went out so we bought a radio and installed it. Those lights are working fine. Thank you so much!!

Jennifer

Answer
Hi Jennifer:

A likely cause to this is athe DRL control module the turn signals go though that module on that van the DRL uses the t/s bulb on that van. That could be the issue. Another possable cause is a bad connection inside the socket for the bulb. That uses square base bulbs and those sockets are prone to overheat and and then have bad connections inside the socket try and wiggle the bubl in the sodket when it doesn't flash and see if it starts to work.  if so the issue is wioth the socket if not then My first guess would be it the control module for the ay time running lights (drl) but without seeing ti it's strictly a guess. Good luck :)
