Poodles - poodle hopping

Expert: Kim Wingate - 10/27/2009

Question
My poodle is about 4 years old, and when we take him for walks he hops quite a bit.  Sometimes he will switch sides, sometimes he hops once or several times in a row.  He doesn't act like he's in pain and really enjoys going for walks, and he is very energetic but I just wanted to make sure everything was ok with him. Thanks, Natalie

Answer
Hello Natalie,
I have heard of other Poodles doing this when they walk.  I don't really know why they do this, but there doesn't seem to be anything that causes it and the others that I have heard of don't seem to be in any pain.  If he were to keep doing it and showed signs of distress, then it would be more of a cause for concern, but since he seems fine for now, I would continue with the walks.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for using AllExperts.com,
Kim
