Poodles - toy poodle

Expert: Kim Wingate - 11/4/2009

Question
This is information in addition to my question a few hours ago about the white toy poodle that died. Another thing I forgot to mention that may be helpful is that the dog would make some kind of grunting noise that came from her throat...sounded like one of the geese I used to have. She usually only did this when she was excited because she was going outside. Thanks.

Answer
Hello again,
This kind of confirms my last response.  A dog that has worms can sometimes vomit them up into their throat and that will cause the coughing that you are describing.  Excitement can also cause the coughing because when the dog is excited, they will sometimes extend their neck, which will constrict breathing and will cause the coughing.

Talk to you soon,
Kim
