Experience I have owned poodles for most of my life and have been a dog breeder and groomer for 11 years.
I breed all three sizes of poodles but my heart belongs to the standard poodles.

Even so, the gene for red color does not necessarily have to be active. So you may have two black or yellow poodles(that have the red gene but we can not see it) and still have red puppies.
