Subject: Billiards Golf

Question
Is there an accepted 'standard' set of rules for Billiards Golf?  We just learned to play by watching, and have the regular players of our pool hall in Oklahoma City.  Wanting more detailed answers, i sought the net, and found every listing to describe a different game entirely.  What is the most 'Standard' form of Billiards Golf?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Richard,

Yes, golf-pool is a game that varies considerably from area to area. Back in the 70's the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) used to include official rules for the game in their annual "Official Rules and Records Book". The game does not appear in the recent versions of the publication that I have.

If you have specific questions I'd be happy to answer them based on the 1971 rules then established by the BCA. That' s the set we all played by in Florida back in the 80's

You could go to the public library and see if they have a copy or you might find one for sale on ebay.

You might also call the BCA at 1-866-852-0999 and ask them if they have old copies or more recent instructions to share. They're very helpful when they can be.

Otherwise, if you send me an email at bnewsted@yahoo.com I'll send you a pdf file of the pages in the 1971 book.

Thanks,

Bill
