Question Ok on the break of 9 ball their is a scratch, can the oposite player that now has ball in hand, play a push shot ?
Answer Hi Shannon,
Yours is a thoughtful and interesting question. It could be helpful to use the ball in hand opportunity to break up a couple of balls that are in trouble and leave your opponent trapped at the same time, particularly if you are also playing under the "three fouls" is a loss option.
The push shot is an option available to either player but it only comes into play immediately after a legal break shot. Scratching on the break is, of course, a foul leaving the requirements of a legal break unmet. Therefor; no legal break, the push is not allowed.
Play well and enjoy,
Bill
