Pool/Billiards - Game of 8 Ball

Expert: Ernie Reynolds - 11/3/2009

Question
Say at the corner pocket, your opponents ball is between the pocket and your ball, is it not illegal to hit your ball into your opponents ball with both going into the pocket with your opponents ball falling in first before yours?

Answer
Hi Jason-

Yes, this is entirely legal to hit your ball in after sinking your opponent's ball, as long as you hit your ball first and don't double-kiss it with the cue ball on the way in.

This can be a tricky shot to master, but if your opponent's ball is right by the hole, it sometimes works. It has been my experience that if you hit the shot fairly easily and put some draw on the cue ball, your ball has a better chance of following your opponent's into the pocket.

Good luck,

Ernie Reynolds
