Question
I just purchased a used pool table and the felt still looks like it is in good shape, except for some cat hair and a couple small stains. Can I wash the felt in a washing machine before I put it back on the table? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Darrell,

Most cloth has a high wool content and wouldn't be well suited to standard washing machine and household dryers. I'm afraid it would shrink considerably. The cat hair can be swept/vacuumed away but if you can't live with the stains you might consider having it dry cleaned. Or, if it's already installed on the table you might try a cloth and upholstery spot cleaner.

There is a product called "Quick Clean" used for cleaning pool table cloth but I haven't heard anybody claim it would remove stains. You can check it out at:

Just my thoughts on this one. Hope it helps.

Best,

Bill
