Presley, Elvis/Replication of Graceland

Question
I have always wanted to "rebuild" Graceland. Is there anyway to get blueprints of the first floor, basement rooms, i.e. Billiard room, etc? Also, wasn't his garage turned into another kind of showroom? How would I be able to make such a replica of the upstairs rooms? I am looking to build my own Graceland here in Texas for my own living quarters and want to get as close as possible. Would I need permission from EPE before starting construction?

Thanks for writing.  I would suggest your first inquiry should be with Shelby County, and following that I would make a trip to Memphis to research everything possible about the construction and lay-out of Graceland.  There *is* a lot if info available, you just won't find it in many Elvis books.

The county should be able to provide the plat for the property (showing the external measurements), and the blueprints of Graceland can be tracked down, as well.

As long as you are not using Elvis's name in any way, promotionally-speaking, or using the name Graceland, I don't think you'd need any sort of permission from EPE.

If you'd like to go over this further, you can contact me at mortis4@aol.com.

Thanks.

Expertise

Any questions on Elvis`s life and death are fine. I would prefer not to answer questions about sales figures, chart positions, or other simple statistical data (including trivia questions). Also, if you take the time to submit a question, please take the time to read the response.

Experience

I have consulted for two televisions programs (Rock-and-Roll Record Breakers on VH-1 and The Presley Family on The Family Channel), and I was previously the top-rated Elvis Presley expert at AllExperts.com (several years ago). I have researched many aspects of Elvis's life and death and am very well-read in these topics.
