Presley, Elvis - Elvis and the song "I'll Fly Away"

Expert: Tony Trout - 6/14/2009

Question
A little over a year ago one of your experts, Mr. J. Warner, stated that Elvis did not record the song "I'LL fly away."  However I found a MP3 download via a Google search for the song, 24b4pand in researching the composers bio it was said that Elvis and various artists recorded the song.

Did Elvis record that song???

Answer
Louis,

No, Elvis never officially recorded the old Gospel standard, "I'll Fly Away". If he did record it, it would have been during the famous "Million Dollar Quartet" session with himself, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.

Hope that helps!

I'm so sorry I didn't get to this question sooner, it's just been very hectic around here but I hope I was able to help answer your question.

Take Care,
Tony
