AboutPatrick Expertise I am happy to answer any questions about Elvis`s life and death, which I have specifically researched quite a bit. I would prefer not to answer questions about sales figures, chart positions, or other simple statistical data (including trivia questions).
Experience I have consulted for two televisions programs (Rock-and-Roll Record Breakers on VH-1 and The Presley Family on The Family Channel), and I was previously the top-rated Elvis Presley expert at AllExperts.com (several years ago). I have researched many aspects of Elvis's life and death and am very well-read in these topics.
Question What record was Elvis playing on his record player the day that he died.
Answer Going by the photo in "Elvis, By The Presleys," the record that was on Elvis's personal record player on August 16, 1977, was a 33rpm disk with a label reading:
THE STAMPS
"A"
This could be an acetate or some other type of informal/unofficial pressing.
Whether this is the record he was actually playing, we don't know, but this is the record that was on the record player.
