AboutPatrick Expertise I am happy to answer any questions about Elvis`s life and death, which I have specifically researched quite a bit. I would prefer not to answer questions about sales figures, chart positions, or other simple statistical data (including trivia questions).
Experience I have consulted for two televisions programs (Rock-and-Roll Record Breakers on VH-1 and The Presley Family on The Family Channel), and I was previously the top-rated Elvis Presley expert at AllExperts.com (several years ago). I have researched many aspects of Elvis's life and death and am very well-read in these topics.
Question Was he native american on mother or father's side of family
Answer Laurie-
Thanks for writing. I have not done research going back on Vernon Presley's (Elvis's father) side of the family, so whether there was Native American lineage there, I do not know. However, looking at Elaine Dundy's "Elvis and Gladys," we find the following (from page 13):
"The earliest female that can be traced with certainty in Elvis's maternal line was his great-great-great-grandmother, Morning Dove White. A full-blooded Cherokee Indian, she was born about 1800, and died certainly in 1835, and is buried in Hamilton, Alabama."
So, we know that there was Cherokee Indian on Elvis's mother's side of the family.
