Presley, Elvis - "Saved" sung in what movie?

Expert: Tony Trout - 9/1/2009

Question
In what movie did Elvis sing the song "Saved"?

Answer
Eileen,

Here's a little bit of background information on the song:

Jerry Leiber and  Mike Stoller wrote "Saved", which was recorded by LaVerne Baker (Atlantic 2099) in 1960.  Her recording was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rhythm & Blues recording of 1960.

Elvis sang "Saved" is a gospel medley in his 1968 television special, "Elvis" (otherwise know as the "'68 Comeback Special").  The song was recorded on June 20 or June 21, 1968, at Western Recorders in Hollywood, CA.  it appears on the following LPs and bootleg LPs:

LPs: "Elvis -- TV Special"
Bootleg LPs: "The '68 Comeback (Elvis" TV Special taping June 20 or 21, 1968)

Hope that helps!

Take care and have a great day!

Tony Trout
