Question
Hi I have a hp psc 2410, maybe you would recognize this problem from one of your other printers? I spent 1.5+ hours online w/HP this a.m. to no help. My printer is 4 years old.  We upgraded computers 6 months ago-PC VISTA, and my trusty printer handled upgrade fine. In the past week it  prints the begining of a copy fine, but fades to nothing being printed by the end of the copy. It's gotten worse over the past week.  I put in a new black ink cartridge even though it didn't say it was low. I wonder what the life span of my trusty little printer is-it's sad but it almost doesn't pay to have it looked at-but put $ towards new.
Thank you so much for any ideas or help
julie

Answer
hi if replacing the ink doesnt solve the issue and your printer is 4yrs old then you are right its not worth repairing.  however it sounds like perhaps you have some ink build up in the printer that is clogging the cartriges and in use.  these printers werent really made to have fgreat access to the internals but what i would do is get a flash light then shut the printer off (unplug it to turn it off) when the pen carriage assembly is out in the print area look over to the left & right for any ink build up and do your best to clean it up.

if this dosnt work then its not worth anymore time & money to try and fix.  your better off replacing it.

thanks simmie
