Question Thank you for responding. I followed your suggestion (tried several times) but the cartridge still blinks the red light. Maybe I should clarify that I refilled the cartridge using one of these lower cost refill kits. The printer works fine and prints Ok it is just that the cartridge chip keeps blinking instead of showing a steady red.

Try re installing the cartridge. But first you need to while the printer is on unplug it for 70 seconds, Then plug it back in and re install.
Answer George seriously stay away from cheap brands they will cost you more in the long run. When I was in the industry we tested some of these inks from the orient and they were not much better then ball point inks. These inks will kill your print heads very quickly. The best refill inks are dye based. Their quality is passable but not as good as pigmented inks. But pigmented inks are not great for refilling because of their vecosity. They are like glue and solidify to quickly. The colors also can unstablize over time. Pigmented inks are great for one filling only. Most of your OEM inks are pigmented inks. Dye based are more water soluable and produce best results for refilling.
Also stay away from remanned cartridges. Failure rates are very high.
