Question I own a one man business, and print maybe 1000 pages a month. I am looking for a copier/scanner/printer (fax not necessary) to replace my old printer. I would like the ability to print some of my larger runs on both sides of the paper (my current printer driver prompts me to reverse the paper after it has printed the odd numbered pages). Page yields and cartridge costs are also key concerns. The ability to buy a larger capacity cartridge is helpful as well.
Which multifuction copier covers these needs best in your opinion? Thanks for your input.
Answer Hello Jerry,
I would recommend PSC 1315 for what you need. I recommend HP for several reasons. First they are user friendly, secondly they have least problems then any other manufactured printer and in the latest consumer report HP listed 5 mahcnines in the top 6. The other is a Canon but the reason I am not in favor of the Canon is that the on board printheads fail after a few cartridge changes which mean you need to not only replace the cartridges but the printheads as well which is costly. Where as HP machines when you buy a cartridge you are replacing both. The other problem with Canons and Epson also is that they use a peizo print head technology which has two mirco screens. If you do not use a clean cycle after each time you use the printer you run the chnace of clogging (the ink drying on the micro screens and blocking the flow of ink). Oh and when you use clean cycles this uses up valuable ink. This technology requires you to use the machine daily. I found if the printers sit for a long period of time the ink dries up or again you get clogging. It is a shame because they produce good graphics no doubt about it. The HP's do the same but again their technology by far is better and less chances of failure causing you to spned more money then necessary.
