Question
Don't know if you would know this but thought I would give it a whorl.  I am looking to buy a relatively inexpensive color printer that will print on 11 by 17 inch paper.  We are using an HP 9600 and I know there is a more recent model but have heard bad things about it.   Are there other manufactures that might have a comparable printer at a comparable cost.  I have looked at various brands but have had little luck in finding this specific kind of printer.

Answer
Hello Dave,
Seriously nothing can be so bad about the HP for you to go to something worse. Epson, Lexmark, Brother and Canon would be a very bad option each one of these manufacturers has more serious problems then the HP printers. Lexmark in most cases has paper feed problems and high priced consumables. Epson, Brother and Canon use a peizo technology which are prone to clogging or burning out the printheads.
The other option would be to buy a Laser. Again though your best option even with a Laser would be HP. May I remind you Lexmark Lasers the toner cartridges can not be refilled which is environmentally unfriendly and a high cost to you. HP you can take your empty to a recharger company and have refilled for 1/3 the cost.
So again I am unsure where you are hearing info on the HP's but think before you listen. You just might buy a worse problem.
