Private Investigations and Personal Security/being followed 24/7
QUESTION: I am being followed 24/7 every where I go and I think there might be some kind of device on my car or somewhere close to my apartment. These people know where I am going before I get there and I have put up with this for some time and do not know what to do. I have contacted several law enforcement agencies over time and all I get from them is a no show or they ask me if I need to see a professional. I was told by a Police Sgt. at one point that there was something going on and we needed to discuss it and in less than 24 hours later I had a voice mail from him telling me that if he gave me any indication that he knew anything, he did not know anything so someone shut him up somewhere along the way. What do you think I should do, I am not afraid of them, but tired of them.
ANSWER: The best advice we can offer is to contact a local Private Detective firm and see if they can conduct a "counter-surveillance" operation. Maybe they can follow you and find out what is going on and who is behind the activity. If they do find someone, it can be better documented to then take details such as license plates, descriptions, etc., to the proper authorities.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------
QUESTION: I did hire a Private Investigator and at the end of the day the two Investigators gave me positive feed back and a couple of weeks later when I went to go pick up the report and the recordings the story completely changed from two weeks prior. I got my written report two vcr recordings that totaled 11 minutes and had no surveillance showing the vehicles that I had pointed out to the Investigators and the most interesting part of the surveillance video was a squirrel sitting on the fence eating a bagle. The owner's response was may I should seek professional help. I do know that some of the vehicles around me are linked to some type of Law Enforcement and I do know that PI's do deal with Law Enforcement and possibly was able to persuade them to edit and cut the video and change the report. I am an Armed Security Guard and I am very aware of my surroundings and I guess maybe someday I will find out or they will finally just disappear and find their next victim. I guess that I am still at a dead end but I have had to deal with it this long so I guess I will just have to deal with it. The only reason why I have not informed my employer of this is because the owners are ex Law Enforcement and I don't want to be looked at like I am crazy and possibly be let go from my job. Thank you for your response and if after reading this maybe there is another direction you can point me in to possibly getting this resolved.
It is extremely doubtful that some agency or even individual is conducting a 24/7 surveillance operation of you. They are very expensive and difficult to organize. We for instance, would charge $1,000 a day or more.....
Unless there is something in your background or activity that would be of tremendous interest to a law enforcement agency or a very rich private individual, I really wouldn't worry about it. However, if you are still convinced you are being followed, continue to try and gather specific details. Keep a daily diary and take photographs or video of what is occurring. If you can get definitive evidence such as license plates, etc., maybe the local police department will then help you look into it further.
