Question
How many years do I have to attend college to have a career in Private Detective/Investigation?

Answer
It depends on what state or Province your in.   Most people here in Canada have at least the two year law enforcment or law & security course with a community college. However the issue is competition there are thousands taking these courses.  So you need to stick out.

If you want a shortcut take courses relating to insurance. If your in Canada work towards your CIP designation with:

Take courses relating to claims, automotive, property and casualty.  Then get into their fraud related course.

Keep in mind who hires PI's.  Lawyers & Insurance Companies.
