Private Investigations and Personal Security/false allegations of sexual harassment


I have been falsely accused of sexual harassment by a male employee who, among other things, has apparently used my computer after hours at work to send suggestive e-mails to himself.  The company is using our corporate counsel to conduct the investigation and he says the e-mail evidence can not be "ignored."  Should I hire a private investigator?  The internal investigator says this would jeopardize the internal investigation but I don't want to get fired!  How can I prove my innocence?
