Question
Who was the first professional golfer to employ an agent?

Answer
Dear Carol, thanks for the question. I believe, unofficially, the first pro golfer to have an agent was Arnold Palmer.  His agent, Mark MacCormack, was a college golf teammate and became a lawyer and suggested that he take a look at Arnold's legal documents which were notoriously not always in the players best interest.  And there it began...the world of sports marketing and agency.

Good luck, thanks again for asking and remember...
Love the game,
skipper
