Pro Golfing/Caddy Pay

Question
I know that caddies typically get a percentage, but what about the endorsement deals. I see most of the caddies with the same clothing, along with the same sponsors, as the pro. Does the caddie get a piece of the action, or is it all part of the "privilege" of carrying the bag?

Answer
Dear Michael, thanks for the question.  There are no general rules for the caddies with regards to endorsement deals.  They each come to their own agreements with sponsors, exclusive of their pro's deals.  I'm sure there is an influence but they have their OWN deals.  With that said, not all the caddies have deals.  Usually the high-profile players' caddies will get offered clothing deals due to the exposure the high-profile players get on TV etc.  The money is usually fractional when compared to the players, but certainly well-worth it given all they have to do is wear a free hat etc.  Everyday caddies get little action if any...only those that carry for the top 40-50 golfers in the world, and only after they've been with that golfer for a while.  Good luck, and remember...
