Pro Golfing - scheduling teams in a league

Expert: Skip Ward - 4/6/2006

Question
Hi Skip
I know you have answered a similar question, but I have spent at least 8 hours trying to figure this one out. Our league has had some changes this year. We lost teams and now have 13 teams. I'm trying to come up with a weekly schedule where 12 teams would play each other and one team would have a "bye". This would go on for 12 weeks and each week one team would not play. I need to have it so there are no replications of teams playing and each team only has one "bye" in the 12 week period. PLEASE HELP

Answer
Dear Tom, thanks for the question...I do remember. Interestingly enough, the ten team matrix is much easier to do.  Its exponentially more difficult as you add teams.  I will contact a friend immediately and see if he has a matrix for 13 with byes.  I'll get back to you shortly.  Until then,

Love the game,
skipper
