Expert: Surajit Basu - 6/21/2008

Question
In a study of 685 cars in a parking lot, there were only 3 different types: sedan, sports car and mini-van. 211 of the cars were mini-vans.  Use this information to estimate the probability of choosing a car that is a sedan or sports car.

Answer
I wont answer the question fully, I will guide you.

How many sedan or sports cars are there?
( 685 cars, and 211 are minivans; others must be sedan or sports cars)

So, there are 685 - .... = ___ sedan or sports cars

Out of 685 cars, ___ are sedan or sports cars.

So, the probability of choosing a sedan or sports car
is ____/ 685 = ???
