Question
I had a question on my math quiz that goes like this:

Mr. R's monthly salary is $2500. His monthly salary is $520 more than his wife's. What is the percentage difference between his salary and his wife's?

The given solution is: 520/2500*100=20.8%

Why is it not 520/1980*100=26.26%???

mukund

Answer
Why is it not 520/1980*100=26.26%???

You can also do 1-(1980/2500)*100

The point is you want to find the percent difference between Mr. R's $2500 per month salary and his wifes $1980 per month salary.

In your equation, you are finding the percent difference between $520 and someones salary that is $1980.

Hope this helps.
