Question
2. In a medical study patients are classified in 8 ways according to whether they have blood type AB , AB-, A , A-, B , B-, O , or O-, and also according to whether their whether blood pressure is low, normal, or high. Find the number of ways in which a patient can be classified.

Answer
Hello Jay-Ar!

We have 8 different blood types and 3 different pressures. Any blood type can pair with any pressure so there are simply 8 * 3 = 24 classifications. It always helps to draw a sample space when you get stuck:

ABl, AB-l, Al, A-l, Bl, B-l, Ol, O-l
ABn, AB-n, An, A-n, Bn, B-n, On, O-n
ABh, AB-h, Ah, A-h, Bh, B-h, Oh, O-h

Thanks for your question!
