Problems using AOL - Primary account

Expert: Steve - 2/8/2009

Question
How can I delete someone who has taken over my primary account? It's my account and screen name, yet there are lots of things I can't do because I need a password because someone else is using my name and changed the password.  Do I need to delete my aol account and re-open it again. I did this one other time and had to change my screen name. I had to inform all my e-mail friends of my new e-mail address.  I hope I don't need to do this again. I was also wondering if I shouldn't just go to another provider such as Yahoo and quit aol.
Thank you,
Mrs. Hunter

Answer
hi juanita,
sorry for your problems. Yes, you need to CANCEL the account and start over with a new e-mail address. If you were able to get the password and get in and change that would work, but probably out of the question. Cancel and start over, best option
