Programming Web Crawling Bots, Intelligent Agents - is developing crawling bots possible with SQL

Expert: Marcus P. Zillman, M.S., A.M.H.A. - 11/2/2009

Question
Hi,
I want to develop a site where I'm gonna offer an exclusive search engine for specific work, not like google for everything. I've a knowledge of PHP, Javascript, SQL, My SQL, XML. Is it possible for me to crawl the web and get the neccessary links for specific search queries? Keep in mind that I don't know C++ or Java. What do you think with the knowledge I have with the about languages?
- And if it's not possible, which one, Java or C++, is better for creating efficient web bots? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Answer
Hello Heni ....

Thanks for the eMail and question ....

As I am not sure of your IP resources I would recommend a Web 2.0 based search engine. There are a number of them available and some fairly easy to create and maintain. I would highly recommend that you visit the follo0wing site which lists all the necessary information and links for additional research into search engine and bots.

This should start you on your mission of knowledge discovery for an exclusive search engine for specific work ....

eCheers

Marcus
