Expert: James R. Berliner, CPCU - 1/19/2009

Question
I am a truck driver and park my car outside the yard where i pick up my truck.

two months back,My car was stripped out.
all the wheels, seats, radio, everthing was stolen.

Once i was back from east coast, i reported progessive immediately and they send a auditor and he said it was totalled and it would take a week to process the payment.

after, few weeks they come back to me and say something seems suspicious and they are investigating.
Now its been more then two months, with no car and have a hard time going to work.
I can buy a new car, but want to clear the loan on my old car first.
I am still making the payments for my old car.

The insurance company is giving me a hard time.I have paid my monthly installments on time.

Please help me deal with them.

Answer
Simer,

I am very sorry to hear about your car, and the trouble you are having with your insurance company.

Take the following two steps:

1) Ask when you can expect to receive a check.  If you are not satisfied with the answer you receive, then
2) Call the Insurance Department in your state and talk to an examiner.  If you tell me what state you live in, I can provide a name and number for you.
