Property & Casualty Insurance - car vandalism in garage

Expert: Thom Brooks - 10/18/2009

Question
Does homeowner's coverage cover a vehicle in garage vandalized by a ground hog getting into cars engine and chewing up all main wires going to brain of vehicle?

Answer
Lori, hello!

The vehicle is not covered by your homeowners (except for Liability if the car is in dead storage, no tag, no battery).

Your personal auto policy would review paying it but you would likely have a $250 or $500 deductible to pay first.  A local mechanic can advise and you will be able to get it re-wired.  Dang those ground hogs.  I bet he did some damage.  Sorry for your loss.

Take Care,
