Question If I have someone who is working on my property, say a neighbor who I pay to help me with painting, yardwork, etc. and this person injures themselves while working here, am i subject to being sued for this? I have regular homeowners insurance..basic..but wanted to know my position with people who are not insured by me and work herefrom time to time.
Answer Hi Karen,
You will have to read the exclusion section of your policy, but most likely not covered for worker's compensation claims, you would want to make sure they are properly insured. If they get hurt working for you, on your property, yes they can sue you, and most likely no coverage under your home, but again, read the policy, or even better, call the claims department for your carrier, and ask them directly, and right their name and number down in your policy, if they give you the green light and tell you that you will be covered.
