Question We have farmers insurance. A pipe burst in our laundry room causing the water to flow thru our heater vents and into our basement. In the basement were our phone lines, surveillance system, internet, modems, dvr and computers for home security. In addition, our tile got wet and the carpet and padding got wet. Service master was called in the next day AFTER I cleaned up all the water. (I hurt my ack cleaning up the water). The insurance company is making us feel like we are trying to "pull" something. They will replace the lino in laundry room. Our tile cracked after Service master came. Service master says it was already cracked. NOT true! They have the pictures of before and after. Farmers won't pay...I am wondering if Farmers even saw the pictures.The adjuster first stated she would have tile replaced but before she left she said Service Master had conflicting story. What do i do? Also, Farmers is giving us a bad time about replacing our electronic equipment...i.e. laptop we used for split screen security. We have witnesses they were down in the basement working from an independent contractor who was here installing cable for us! I can also get statements from our housekeeper and nanny about the tile. How do I get farmers to pay up?

This is a tough one, it is a he said she said, short of engaging an attorney, i would hire an independent adjuster. He only gets paid on what he recovers. Thus, the more he recovers for you it is better for him. I would look for a local one, and then get a few references, and check with the local BBB. Please let me kno if there are any more questions.
