Question
hi fred,i just got my p & c license in ca and want to start my independent agency to sell p&c ins.little confused should i work for a company as a captive agaent. i would like to work under multiple companies rather than just one.... please advice how can i get appointed under multipal companies......thanks alot

Answer
i would look in the phone book for brokers.  they would be the ones with multiple companies.  i dont think the ins companies would appoint you independantly.  the brokers would represent multiple companies, such as, progressive, travelers, mercury etc.  allstate and farmers are captive companies that are always looking for agents.
cordially,
fred morris
