Question Hi Deanna,
I have recently had a flood in my entire house, standing water from a burst pipe for 2 days.
I have had nothing but hassles from my insurance company, they initially handled everything via phone, until the first estimates (which I was supposed to rpovide0 came in.
The ins co then decided that they should send an adjuster. he called to make an appointment for the next day, he actually showed up wiht a contractor and a cabinet maker. I was surprised, they stayed in my house for over 4.5 hrs going through the entire house. they then submitted a low bid which my adjuster is pressuring to take. He is pushing me to use his contractor, but he is refusing to change the doors, saltillo tiles in my bedroom and covered patio, to redo my kichen cabinet, that has clearly been exposed and damaged by the flood; pantry doors don't close properly, drawers are out of level and there is water stain on the inside of my cabinet. my kichen is 3 yrs old and custom made.
what should I do?
Answer Hello Monique,
I am sorry for your loss.
There are numerous questions in here and numerous ways to address this situation. I am also not a dwelling expert. I mostly work with personal property.
I would advise you contact a Public adjuster in your area for a free consultation.
If you don't wish to contact a Public adjuster, then I would advise you to contact your adjusters supervisor and request a new supervisor AND file a complaint with your state department of insurance. It is unethical and most likely illegal for him to push his contractor on you.
