Psychology - Good book

Question
Hello, I am interested in learning about psychology. Can you advise any good easy to read books to get into it? I am interested in learning about human interactions, like for example when people act a certain way towards someone because they think it is right, even though they may be wrong. Or like when someone compliments someone else because they think it will get them somewhere, whereas in effect it actually reduces their value to the other person.

Can you suggest a book about these subjects?

thanks

Harry

Answer
Hi Harry,

It sounds like you're interested in a specific area of psychology called social psychology.  Social psychology is not only fascinating, but it uncovers really important things about human nature, from how people perceive us in social interactions, to why people hurt and punish others.

A popular introductory textbook on social psychology (called "Social Psychology") written by Eliot Smith and Diane Mackie may give you a good overview of the field.  From there, you can narrow your interest even further.  Good luck!  Robin
