Question Hi..
My husband and I have registered our own cleaning company 2 years ago. We have not had the opportunity to trade until this past month and that too as a sub/subcontractor.
Our situation is that we have no idea of how to reply to adverts etc requiring cleaning services.
My husband has 10 years experience in all forms of cleaning environments and is currently working for 2 major cleaning companies. He specializes in Commercial/ educational facilities cleaning.
We have a ready workforce and are fully insured. We also have most of the required equipment.
We are at the point where we know we have to send in a company profile but as we have no references or achievements I'm not sure how to approach companies.
I would appreciate some guidance in relation to how I should put together a profile even though we haven't any thing to brag about re current clients etc.. we are very confident that if we are given a chance we will definitely impress the client.
Thanks
Sonali
Answer Sonali,
You face what all start-up companies first encounter - direction.
To increase your public recognition factor via a company profile you must remove any negative aspects about your abilities and equipment.
Your company profile could be in brochure form or a one page flyer. You should also have an inexpensive Internet web site. Impress a prospective client by boasting about the collective experience you, your husband and staff have in the cleaning industry. Alert them to the state-of-the-art equipment, that your are bonded and covered by insurance. That you guarantee professionalism and that quality work is a hallmark of your company.
Have a public relations campaign with a grand-opening. Send out press releases to the local media. Invite your chamber-of-commerce (even join it), your suppliers, etc. Collect cards at the grand-opening and have a drawing with the recipient receiving X amount of hours of free cleaning by your company.
If you have a small advertising budget then place ads in the local newspaper under specialization. Or mail out a coupon just to businesses and homes in your immediate zip code.
Start promoting yourself. That's where it all begins.
