Public Relations/can a publicist own a blog


I am an aspiring publicist. I currently bought a url named .  Is it a conflict of interest for a publicist to own and market a blog as well as promote his own clients on it? Or even lets say, promote some clients but other publicists clients as well and trade each others clients promotional content. Thanks


First, sorry for the delay - I was away and unable to check messages. Short answer, the response would be "no," in most cases. However, it is best to consult someone with a legal background if unsure. Be prepared to immediately remove content if/when you get complaints and respond quickly.

Also, consider any ethical dilemmas. While not illegal, it is generally inappropriate to post materials that might mislead someone to believe a client is yours when, in fact, it is someone else's. For example, I had this occur when re-posting information on behalf of PRSA. I re-direct as needed. Each post also clearly shows the appropriate representative contact(s).
