Question Hi Cathy-
I was looking through this site looking for an intellectual property expert and
came across your old post from 8/22/2007.
I am compiling a book of interviews. 50 people in one industry will be asked
the same questions, plus they will be asked to write a short essay of
inspiration. Is there a standard release form that I can start with and then
send to lawyer? I will be self-publishing and they will not be compensated. If
I ask them for photos of themselves to put with their interview, will I need a
separate release or can all be encompassed in one form?
I realize you are not an attorney, but seems as though you may know
something about it.
Thank you,
Willow
Answer Hi, Willow!
Actually, I DO know of a place where you can find a sample of an interview release. It's in the appendix of a TERRIFIC book that it would help you to read as to start to pursue the publishing process. The book information is:
The Street Smart Writer
By Jenna Glazer and Daniel Steven
Nomad Press
ISBN 0-9749344-4-5
$16.95
Daniel Steven is an intellectual property attorney, so he's already gone through the forms. The book is highly recommended by Writer's Digest, along with several other magazines and websites, and is a book club selection of the Writer's Digest Book Club. Definitely worth the bucks!
