Expertise

I can answer questions about the layout, formatting and design of book covers, in addition to helping people understand licenses and find sources for stock art and fonts.

Experience

I have been working in the publishing industry since 1981.

Organizations
Small Publishers Association of North America.

Education/Credentials
I have a degree in Behavioral Psychology and English, which helps me greatly in my design work. I have also worked in a print bindery, affording me hands-on experience in the production end of the industry. For eight years, I worked as a writer, copy editor and layout editor for the advertising department of a major newspaper. Since starting my own company, I have created approximately 1000 book covers for large, traditional publishing organizations; small presses and independent publishers. My clients have been featured in numerous high-profile media sources including Oprah, 48-Hours, People Magazine and the Today show.

Awards and Honors
Several, but two recent awards include a perfect score of 5/5 from Writer's Digest and a tie for second place in the Bay Area Independent Publishers' Association 2008 Book Awards.
