Question My wife and I will be in San Juan next week. Do you have any suggestions for interesting museums, sites, etc. to see?
Answer Hola, Stanley.
You don't mention if you have been in Puerto Rico before, so I don't know if this would be your first visit to the Island. Also, I don't know if you refer to the area of the capital of San Juan or just to Old San Juan.
In the following link you would find detailed information on places to visit in San Juan: http://welcome.topuertorico.org/city/sanjuan.shtml
This link contains general, very useful information about Puerto Rico: http://www.topuertorico.org/tinfo.shtml
One of my favorite museums in the Island is the Museo de Arte de Ponce, in the South of the Island. In Santurce, you could visit Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, located in 299 De Diego Avenue. In the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, there is the Museo de Historia, Antropología y Arte. In Stop 18, Santurce, there is the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico. In Old San Juan you would find many and different museums: Museo de Pablo Casals; Museo de Nuestra Raiz Africana; Museo Felisa Rincón de Gautier; Museo de Casa Blanca; Museo del Niño; Museo de Las Américas; Museo de Arte e Historia de San Juan; and many more.
When you come to Old San Juan, go to Plaza Dársenas and visit the Tourism Center there. Look for a copy of the Qué Pasa! magazine and ask for literature to do your own tour in San Juan. While in Plaza Dársenas, look for the trolley stop and take the "open" trolley (the one with no doors or windows). It will take you to El Morro Fortress and back. You can decide on stepping out in El Morro, and start from there a walking tour. Or, you can just enjoy your trip and go back to Plaza Dársenas, then start your walking tour from that point. There is another trolley that goes go the City Hall and the center of Old San Juan, but I would rather recommend your walking through the streets in the area, visit the stores, go for breakfast at La Bombonera, for lunch at Manolín, or dinner at Mojito's. Enjoy the plazas, walk down el Paseo de La Princesa, etc.
If you need more information, just write me again at AllExperts.com. it is my pleasure to be of help.
Enjoy your trip.
Saludos desde Puerto Rico, :)
