Question
hi,
i live on my sailboat in florida. i receive a small (900.00} monthly va pension. since there are va facilities in p.r. i would love to change my scenery. does this sound possible? i dont know what the attitude is towards live aboard boaters. thanks.

Answer
Hola, Bill.
Well, that's sounds really exciting.
As your name is Bill I am wondering... I was going to refer you to the web page of Bill Dietrich.  He is also retired and living in Florida... Am I writing to the same guy?
Perhaps you already know about our ports:
Port of San Juan
Port of Yabucoa
Port of Las Mareas, Guayama
Port of Guayanilla
Port of Arecibo
Port of Guanica
My suggestion to you is to contact the Puerto Rico Ports Authority for specific information:
Puerto Rico Ports Authority at

I am not related to the marinas and their rules, but here is a link where you will find a list of marinas and other related places in Puerto Rico.  You may want to contact any of them for more information:

Regarding you budget, Bill, the cost of life is ascending in this part of the world.  But, then, there are many expenses that you don't have, as is a mortgage on a property, a car, children and their education.  If you are doing it in the States with your budget  - perhaps it is more or less the same thing in Puerto Rico.
Enjoy your unique life style!
Saludos,
Nancy
