Question
Hi Nancy,

Can you tell me the most economical way to get from SJU to the El Conquistador for 6 people?  The hotel has a shuttle but it's $68 per person plus tax.

Thanks

Anna

Answer
Hola, Anna.
If you are staying, for example for 6 nights, you will spend less if you rent a car for the whole week (compared to a $68 plus tax, per person charge for the shuttle service).
Driving to El Conquistador is easy.  Your best choice is to make car reservations through Hotwire (I have got really great offers using Hotwire) or checking with other car rental agencies as Enterprise and Charlie Car Rental and drive instead of paying for transportation..
Although you will be charged for parking at the hotel, you will be able to drive the area, go to El Yunque, to Luquillo Beach, Cabezas de San Juan, and visit different restaurants out of the Hotel.
If driving is not an option for you, consider paying for a taxi that can pick you up at the airport.  Call with anticipation and get the best possible fee:

Fixed taxi fares:

If I can help more, let me know.
Saludos desde Puerto Rico,
Nancy
P.D.  If you were to consider renting a car, I always recommend to check with your actual car insurance provider.  Usually they provide you coverage when renting a car and you will be able to save about $20 a day.
