Question
I live in Florida and my father lives in Caguas, P.R...usually on his birthday I'd like to send him a little something...fruit basket, cookies...something like that, however, unless I call someone that lives in P.R. to buy it, I cannot do it. I have not been able to find a place close enough to establish a trust, where all I need to do is call and they will take care of delivery. Used to have a florist and they closed. But at his age (87) I'd prefer either fresh fruits or cookies/cakes. Any suggestions?

Answer
Gloria,

I just looked at the website www.ftd.com, which is one of the main flower delivery websites in the US.  They have some different foods and cakes (go to the Gourmet & Gifts section), and it appears that they deliver in Puerto Rico.  The way the website works is to find a local florist or company and have them process the order and deliver it.  I kind of remember that I used them a few years ago.

My other suggestion is just to use an online company in the US for whatever products you would like to send (fruit, cookies, etc), since most companies ship to Puerto Rico as well.  You may have to pay extra for shipping to PR, but you have the advantage of working with a US company rather than someone locally in PR.

Finally, you can try the company www.floresyservicios.com.  I have used them before (to deliver flowers to Caguas, in fact) and they worked well for me.  They are fairly large here, and have beautiful flowers.  I have worked with them by going to the store, but also have done a couple things by phone.  I don't think they work with food deliveries though.

Hope this helps you,

Puerto Rico
